The Clarion Award – You could be a Winner!

When I first heard about the Clarion Awards, I wasn’t sure whether to take the time to enter. I figured there would be so many entries – what would be my chances?  But you can’t win if you don’t enter! So I looked over my work, the column that I write for Farm World, and decided to try sharing some of my stories about old iron and the antique tractor hobby.  Preserving agricultural heritage is among my goals.

The column was a winner in 2016, and in 2018, I chose an article about “Ten Things to Do on Vancouver Island” I wrote for Senior News & Times of Illinois and won again.Clarion Awards

Have I won every time I have entered?  No, but that certainly didn’t diminish the times I did win and how that made me feel.

I have to say, there is nothing like getting confirmation of the quality of your work with a Clarion Award.  It is a huge confidence builder as well as a wonderful addition to your resume. This award affirms that what you do matters. That is how I felt when I won.

Winning a competition can do a lot for you. It can open doors and boost your self-confidence in your profession. It may raise your profile in the workplace or among your peers. It can help you advance your career as it attests to the caliber of your work.

I encourage you to make the effort to add the words “award-winning” to your resume by entering the 2020 Clarion Awards. As a member of the Association for Women in Communications, you have a reduced fee to enter this prestigious award competition.

Entering is easy, and there are categories for a wide variety of communications, including Advertising & Marketing, Books, Brochures, Custom & Special Publications, Education, Fund Development, Magazines, Newsletters, Newspapers, Online Media, Photography & Graphics, and Public Relations.

For a reduced fee, you can enter more than one category and you can enter the same item in more than one category.  The only limitation may be your imagination. Visit womcom.org and click on the Clarion Award banner for details and questions.

Don’t sell yourself short – especially if you work hard and your work gets results. This is your chance for the confidence boost that will get you to the next level. There is much to be gained, and remember – you can’t win if you don’t enter. Don’t miss the 2020 Clarion Award competition and the opportunity to have your efforts recognized!
