Preview of 2019 National Conference: A Championship Mindset by Debbie Powers

Hi there, my name is Debbie and I lead leaders for a billion dollar telecommunications company. Wow, that sounds braggadocios, but hey I had to grab your attention somehow! As I write this, all of the memories come flooding back to about how I overcame so many obstacles to climb the corporate ladder in a male dominated industry.

To give you some perspective I am only 1 of 4 women, out of 40 Directors who do what I do in my current organization of over 120K employees. (That was a mouthful.) This has inspired me to share my journey with other ladies because there is a space and place for us at the top, but we have to do some things differently.

It does not matter where you came from, trust me on this – my family survived on government cheese with and a big sense of humor. I welcome anyone from any background to join in my seminar, no matter where you are in your career and no matter where you come from. Let’s be honest: 17 years of trailblazing has been exhausting, challenging, rewarding and exhilarating all at the same time. I invite you to join me as I share with you my own personal journey from “High tops to High heels”.

I can’t give away all of my secrets right now, but what I will tell you is that life simply comes down to your mindset. I have been teaching the Championship Mindset for most of my career for others who finally want to stop sitting on the sidelines and get in the game.  We all have struggles and we all have a story, but ultimately we have a choice. Some of you at this very moment may be dealing with something that is preventing you from moving forward or perhaps you are just feeling stuck.  I, too, have been there many times, but it is what I have learned along the way that helps me excel with anything I choose to do, here we go again, choice… choose, I am starting to see a pattern… hmmmmh.

I am not saying that everything is rainbows and butterflies, as for me being a business professional and making sure I am even a better mom, wife and friend is like walking a tight rope, while balancing an elephant on one arm and a spinning a monkey on the other with no safety net. Welcome to the circus, Yikes!!! Sound familiar? Let’s learn some steps to get centered, deal with challenge and change, and to always work on moving forward with the Championship Mindset.  I have always made it my mission to support woman or anyone else out there who needs a boost.

If you are wondering if you should join the AWC national conference this fall, and if there is something you can take away from me and all of the other speakers the answer is YES!!! One part of the Championship Mindset is agreeing that you need to make change, and what better way to do that than  with women supporting women.  You have a choice after all!!!

See you soon, Deb.
