What a promising year we have to look forward to as members of AWC — the Association for Women in Communications! This year marks 110 years of Women in Communication. Over the past 11 decades the organization has experienced many changes but one thing has remained constant—we have always been an organization for women, led by women supporting one another, providing opportunities for women to learn and grow. What a great group!

Get Engaged

AWC offers numerous resources and opportunities for members to grow professionally and personally—opportunities to engage. AWC helps members stay up to speed in the ever-advancing skills ecosystem. And not just women – men are welcome to attend and join with the understanding that our organizational focus is to support professional women involved in communications.

We have exciting plans for 2019 that will increase resources and opportunities. We want to help you to take your career to the next level.

The Challenge

I challenge you to be the architect of your future. Although Artificial Intelligence, robotics and chatbots are rapidly populating the landscape, they cannot replace human traits like storytelling or communication skills—the skills possessed by high performing individuals and companies. This is where AWC can help you!

Trending

The AWC blog, Trending, is available to everyone. Trending offers tips and insights on a wide range of communication topics. From best practices to women’s issues, community to the workplace, Trending offers valuable information for all communicators. And, as a AWC member, you can apply to contribute to the blog. What a great opportunity to share your expertise with others while building your resume!

Know to Grow

Have you attended a webinar lately? Did you know that, as a member, you can join our monthly webinar or listen to a previous webinar online? Add to your learning experience. Expand your expertise and increase your confidence with Know to Grow. Connect with Peers

Engage with fellow AWC members nationwide by attending the conference in St. Charles, Missouri, September 29th – October 1st. This is an excellent opportunity to network, learn and excel in your professional career. In the meantime, join an online forum discussion.
Participate in AWC’s Forum for members. Expand your community of knowledge by sharing and discussing ideas or issues, seek advice and connect with other AWC members.

Engage with the Local and National Board

Improve your resume and broaden your network by joining a committee at the local or national level. By engaging with a committee, you improve the chapter or board as well as your career. Committee involvement leads to stronger connections with fellow members; these connections often lead to personal and professional growth opportunities.

She is the president of LG Consulting & Training LLC, an author, photographer, speaker and life-long student of gratitude.
