Seattle AWC is pleased to bring local storyteller and actress Debbie Dimitre to our holiday party stage to present "No Ordinary Woman," a dramatic interpretation of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, one of the first delegates to the U.N. in 1945 and a peaceful warrior for Human Rights.

In costume and by the glow of her kerosene lamp, Debbie brings to life women and young girls in American history such as Harriet Beecher-Stowe, Nellie Bly, Eleanor Roosevelt, Annie Oakley, Grandma Moses and Rachel Carson just to name a few.

Debbie's interest in women's stories started more than 30 years ago when she realized that her children's school books were practically void of information about the contributions, courage and bravery of uncounted mothers and daughters in American history. Thus she set about to create a series of dramatic and historically accurate one-woman presentations to bring to life these women's stories in very entertaining and engaging ways.

The Seattle Yacht Club will follow current King County guidance and so will we. The Seattle Yacht Club follows King County health regulations and is currently requiring masks except when eating or drinking, and proof of vaccination. You can find the latest guidelines here. We are looking forward to a safe and memorable evening.

Many members said they missed the Holiday Silent Auction so we’re bringing it back.

Auction items are donated and contributed by chapter members. If you have a favorite dessert, cookies, candy, or other holiday concoction that you can donate, please let us know. If you are willing to put together a lovely holiday gift basket, we’d love to have your contribution. Then, join us on December 2 to place your bid on the yummy desserts, delightful gift baskets, and other holiday themed treats!

Please contact Lorraine Howell at or Cathy Stevens at with your items. You can bring them to the Yacht Club on December 2 or we can make arrangements to get them in advance. With your help we can bring back this honored tradition which raises funds for our student scholarships!
