Dominican Sisters, Podcasting and Making Lemonade Out of Pandemic Lemons

For 148 years, the Springfield Dominican Sisters have built strong relationships and connections with the communities they serve in central Illinois. But the dangerous COVID-19 pandemic made it nearly impossible for them to reach people in more traditional ways.

From this challenge, an idea was born. The Sisters turned to podcasting to reach their audience, build connections, and offer entertaining and inspirational content to listeners.

The result is F.L.O.W. cast, a locally produced podcast featuring one-on-one interviews, roundtable discussions and more focusing on the sisters' mission and their lives, such as "Sister Bernie has a fan club" and "The spiritual energy of Sister Mary Emmeric."

Join us for a fun, informative panel discussion with Sister Beth Murphy, Veronica Brown, Jeremiah Washington and Aaron Tebrinke from the Springfield Dominican Sisters. We'll learn more about how they got their project off the ground, the challenges they've faced, the success they've had, and their tips for others who want to expand their audience through podcasting.
