About Us

AWC Tulsa Professional Chapter
The Tulsa Professional Chapter has a longstanding and strong presence in the community. The chapter is 110+ members strong, representing a variety of communications disciplines in Tulsa and surrounding areas.
Communicators must demonstrate competence in varied disciplines across the broad spectrum of communications fields. Disciplines represented within the association include: print and broadcast journalism, television and radio production, film, advertising, public relations, marketing, editing, graphic design, multimedia design, and photography. The list continually grows with newer media platforms.
AWC is dedicated to leading progressive change in the communications professions through information exchange, leadership, professional development and technology.

More than 7,500 members strong, AWC is the prevailing communications organization for those serving in diverse, but related, communications professions. Student chapters are an important part of our organization. The chapter offers students help in building strong academic and professional careers through networking on campus and with nearby professional members.

Board of Directors

AWC Tulsa Board of Directors

Serving on AWC’s Board of Directors is one of the most exciting and valuable leadership opportunities offered by membership. The Tulsa Chapter includes more than 20 leadership positions filled by dedicated members who meet monthly to set the chapter’s direction and policies. In addition to helping govern the organization, these board members lead the committees that deal with all areas of the chapter’s activities--from membership to programs to public relations.

Volunteers with a variety of skills and experience are needed. The presidency usually requires a four-year commitment: at least one year in a board position followed by a year each as president-elect, president and past president.

Board members are happy to answer questions about their committees or about AWC. Board positions generally run one fiscal year, July 1- June 30.
