Grants and Scholarships

We strive to meet the professional and educational needs of our members.

As part of AWC’s commitment to the advancement of women in the communications field, the AWC Professional Development Grant is awarded to a member who is working to advance professionally. The AWC-BN Chapter also recognizes the importance of supporting future professionals, and annually awards the AWC Student Scholarship to an outstanding member of the AWC Student Chapter.

Professional Development Grants

Julie and Ashley BNCongratulations to our first 2020 AWC Professional Development Grant recipient Christy Germanis! Christy is the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at YWCA McLean County and will use her grant dollars to participate in the Multicultural Leadership Program (MCLP), class of 2021. MCLP is an intense professional leadership development curriculum which provides a framework for current and potential leaders to improve their leadership skills. The core components of the MCLP curriculum are to develop servant leadership skills (enabling others to become capable, wise, and better leaders), to become more self-aware and grow as a leader, to develop authentic relationships, and to foster diversity inclusion (welcoming, engaging, and including diverse perspectives). Congratulations and best wishes, Christy!
