Emily Deppermann is a recent graduate from Illinois State University. Prior to her time at ISU, Emily attended Spoon River College, where she received her Associate Degree in Communication. While she was a student at SRC, Emily also worked as a peer tutor in the Learning Resource Center, where she worked with her fellow students across a variety of different academic subjects.
After transferring to ISU, Emily quickly found a place on campus when she joined ISU’s Chapter of the Association for Women in Communication. She then became the Website Design and Development Chair, as well as the Social Media Chair for Illinois State University’s Association for Women in Communications student chapter. During her time in this position, Emily was able to increase the chapter’s social media platforms by posting relevant and engaging content. In May of 2020, she was elected as President of ISU’s AWC Chapter, and she was faced with the challenge of running and adapting this student organization in the middle of a global pandemic. Though it may have been challenging at times, Emily and her executive board were able to put together a successful fall semester with both returning AWC members and new recruits in attendance at virtual meetings. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations in December 2020.
Emily is currently applying for graduate programs in Communication, and in the future, she hopes to work in public relations for a publishing company.
