100 Women of Note Nomination Deadline is now October 15, 2010

Association for Women in Communications has designed the 100 Women of Note program to recognize extraordinary women communicators who have made their mark during the past 100 years, whether in local communities, regionally, nationally or internationally.

100 Women of Note will showcase 100 women who have formed the backbone of communications for the last 100 years: journalists who weren’t allowed to attend press conferences; pioneers who communicated long before they had equal rights; glass ceiling breakers who risked their reputations to get their messages out; women who have endangered their lives to serve on the frontlines; or those leading the way in social media, pushing the envelope into the online and electronic space.

Nominees should be women who have made a significant contribution to society through the fields of communications between 1909 and 2009. While the names of Helen Thomas and Barbara Walters are easily identifiable as outstanding communicators, AWC acknowledges the contributions of many women at local and regional levels who broke barriers to excel as communicators, often achieving “firsts” in their markets.

Candidates can be nominated by both AWC members and the public at large. The Nominations Review Committee will select the top 100 candidates, taking into consideration regional representation and historical competency.
